Millet Mothers to serve sustainable livelihoods for women in Hyderabad

Hyderabad is set to launch an innovative initiative aimed at promoting health and wellness in the corporate world. The Millets National Media Portal, as part of its national mission “One Millet Meal Every Day for Every Individual,” has rolled out a program that connects corporate offices with trained Millet Mothers, who will provide freshly prepared, nutritious millet-based lunches to employees.

This move follows the success of the Millet Mothers Program, a collaboration between the Millets National Media Portal and MBF (Millets – The Best Food). Under this program, 100 Millet Mothers in Hyderabad have been trained in over 20 millet-based recipes that meet international standards for taste, nutrition, and quality. The training was led by National Millet Coach Pooja Lakhotia, with support from experts like Dr. Monica Sravanti, Dr. Giridhar, and Millet Mothers Coordinator Madhuri.

The official launch took place at Essjay Fortune Community Hall in Begumpet, Hyderabad, with Prasanna Srinivasa Sarakadam, Chairman of MBF, highlighting the dual goals of the program: improving employee wellness and empowering women. “When employees eat nutritious food, their productivity increases. They think better, work better, and live better. Our Millet Mothers initiative ensures that every meal not only nourishes the body but also empowers the women preparing it,” Sarakadam said.

The Millet Lunch Program is now open to corporate partnerships across Hyderabad, catering to companies of all sizes—small, medium, and large. The program offers freshly cooked, easy-to-digest millet-based meals that promote both mental and physical well-being. Actress Laya, the brand ambassador for the Millet Mothers initiative, emphasized the program’s commitment to healthy living and women’s empowerment, pointing out that millets are not only good for health but also support grassroots economic development by creating income opportunities for women.

This initiative is a win-win for both employees and the community, combining better health with social impact.
