Jubilee Hills Bypoll: 58 Candidates Get Election Symbols

A record 58 candidates will contest the Jubilee Hills Assembly bye-election in Hyderabad on November 11, following the death of sitting BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath.

The Election Commission allotted election symbols to all candidates, including quirky ones like baby walker, CCTV camera, soap dish, and dish antenna.

The bye-election will see a triangular contest among the Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with 26 small-party nominees and 29 independents also in the fray — the highest ever in the constituency’s history.

Due to the large number of contestants, four ballot units will be used in each of the 407 polling booths. The constituency has 4,01,365 voters (2,08,561 men and 1,92,779 women).

The AIMIM is not contesting but has declared support for the Congress.
