Be Alert Until Marriage: Hyderabad CP Sajjanar Warns Women Against Marriage Frauds

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Sajjanar has issued a strong warning to women to remain cautious until they get married, amid rising cases of marriage-related frauds in the city.

He stated that fraudsters are increasingly targeting women under the pretext of marriage, not only in love marriages but also in arranged alliances finalized by families. According to him, several complaints related to such incidents have recently been received by the police.

The accused often follow traditional customs like bride-viewing ceremonies and engagements to gain trust. Once the marriage is considered confirmed, they emotionally manipulate the women, coerce them into physical relationships, and later reveal their true intentions.

After fulfilling their demands, the fraudsters allegedly demand large sums of money or additional dowry, threatening to cancel the marriage if their demands are not met. Fear of social stigma and loss of reputation after engagement often prevents victims and their families from coming forward, which the offenders exploit further.

Commissioner Sajjanar urged women not to blindly trust even arranged proposals and advised them to carefully observe the groom’s behavior, habits, and social circle. He emphasized that any pressure for physical intimacy or private meetings before marriage should be treated as a serious red flag.

He assured that victims should not fear blackmail or monetary demands and must report such cases immediately. The identity of complainants will be kept strictly confidential.

Women facing such issues can contact Hyderabad SHE Teams via WhatsApp at 9490616555 or call Dial 100 for immediate assistance.

The Hartford launches first Global Technology Centre in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Hyderabad has become the first home of The Hartford in India with the launch of the company’s first-ever Global Technology Centre (GTC) in the city. The facility was formally announced by Telangana Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Monday.

Marking The Hartford’s maiden entry into India, the Global Technology Centre spans 1,60,000 square feet and is located in the Financial District, Hyderabad. The centre will focus on artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and engineering excellence, supporting the company’s global technology transformation initiatives.

Designed to operate in a start-up-like environment, the centre will enable rapid prototyping, agile development, and seamless cross–time-zone collaboration with The Hartford’s technology hubs in the United States, including Hartford, Charlotte, Chicago, and Columbus.

The facility is expected to scale to a workforce of nearly 1,200 employees over the next few years as it expands advanced digital, engineering, and AI-led capabilities for the organisation worldwide.

Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Babu said The Hartford’s decision to begin its India journey in Hyderabad follows a familiar global trend.
“When Microsoft expanded beyond the United States, its first major development centre outside the U.S. was built in Hyderabad. When Google entered India, it chose Hyderabad for its largest campus outside Mountain View,” he said.

He added that in recent years, global majors such as McDonald’s, Vanguard, Dai-ichi Life, and Marriott International have also made Hyderabad their entry point into India, setting up Global Capability Centres that drive advanced digital engineering, AI-led operations, and global capability building.

Early Onset of Summer in Hyderabad Linked to Urban Heat Island Effect

Hyderabad:
Hyderabad is witnessing the early arrival of summer due to the growing Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect, where buildings, roads, and concrete structures trap heat, making urban areas significantly hotter than surrounding rural regions. This was highlighted during a recent urban heat data jam held in the city.

The event titled “Urban Heat in Hyderabad” was organised by Oorvani Foundation’s data portal Open City in collaboration with Uncharted Science, IIIT-Hyderabad, Climate Front Telangana, Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU), and Hyderabad Tiger Conservation Society.

Rising Heatwaves and Increasing Concretisation

Participants noted that Hyderabad’s summers are worsening each year, with heatwaves beginning as early as February and early March. Rapid concretisation and shrinking green cover are intensifying the urban heat island effect, causing temperatures to soar.

Five teams analysed specific city wards and found that social and economic status often determines how much heat residents endure, highlighting climate inequality within the city.

Ward-wise Observations

  • Hitech City:
In densely populated Hitech City, temperatures have previously touched 50°C. While dust and construction particles slightly mask daytime heat spikes, nighttime temperatures are steadily increasing, preventing the area from cooling down.
  • Uppal:
A significant loss of greenery over the past decade has directly contributed to rising surface temperatures, particularly in residential and industrial zones.
  • Borabanda:
In low-income areas where nearly 70% of the population lives in slums, residents lack cooling infrastructure such as parks, shaded areas, and public sanitation facilities. This makes economically weaker communities the most vulnerable to extreme heat.
  • Gachibowli:
Several roads lack adequate tree cover and shade, with surface temperatures recorded as high as 45°C. These extreme conditions also affect street animals like dogs, cows, cats, and birds, which are physiologically unable to tolerate such heat.
  • Jawaharnagar:
Around the landfill area, temperatures have steadily risen over the last decade, even as residential developments continue to expand nearby.

Heat as a Question of Justice

Speaking at the event, John Michael from Climate Front Telangana said,
“Urban heat and ecological degradation are not just environmental issues. They are questions of justice. Communities such as waste pickers, informal workers, and residents living near landfills and waste-to-energy plants face the harshest impacts of climate stress every day.”

Vaidya R, Program Lead – Data at Oorvani Foundation, added that this was their first data jam in Hyderabad and praised participants for applying mapping and data science skills to address civic challenges. He emphasised that the government should tap into this wealth of knowledge to build climate-resilient policies.

Growing Need for Climate-Responsive Urban Planning

The discussions underscored the urgent need for increasing green cover, improving cooling infrastructure in low-income neighbourhoods, and adopting climate-responsive urban planning strategies to mitigate the urban heat island effect in Hyderabad.

As temperatures continue to rise earlier each year, experts warn that without immediate intervention, the city’s vulnerable communities will bear the brunt of worsening climate stress.

How Much Land Does a Human Really Need? Krishna’s Timeless Message from the Gita-Judge-Vijaysen-Reddy

Hyderabad, February 17, 2026:
Human suffering largely arises from limitless desire. Reflecting on the profound question, “How much land does a human truly need?”, Justice Vijay Sen Reddy emphasized that the teachings of Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita remain deeply relevant to modern society.

Addressing the philosophical message delivered by Krishna to Arjuna, Justice Sen Reddy noted that the Gita is not merely a scripture for war but a timeless guide for ethical living. He warned that unchecked greed—driven by the pursuit of land, wealth, and resources—has severely disrupted nature’s balance.

Growing Divide Between Rich and Poor

Justice Sen Reddy expressed concern over the increasing concentration of wealth in the hands of a few, while vast sections of society struggle to meet even basic needs. He stated that if human desires were limited to genuine necessities and greed were restrained, social inequality would naturally decline.

The Gita’s Message for Today

Quoting the essence of Krishna’s teachings, he said that principles such as self-control, detachment, and duty (Karma Yoga) are more relevant today than ever before. Ultimately, a human needs only a few feet of land at the end of life; everything beyond that is merely an expansion of desire.

True development, he concluded, lies in living in harmony with nature. Ignoring this wisdom, he cautioned, will leave future generations facing severe ecological and social crises.

Sanofi Expands Hyderabad GCC, Adds Nearly 2,000 Jobs in India

French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi is deepening its commitment to India with a major expansion of its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad. The company plans to add nearly 2,000 new jobs, increasing total headcount at the centre from over 2,600 employees to more than 4,500 professionals.

The expansion reflects Sanofi’s long-term strategy to strengthen its global operations by leveraging India’s growing pool of high-skilled talent in research, technology, and digital innovation.

Significant Investment to Support Growth

The expansion will be backed by a multi-hundred-million-dollar investment, though the company has not specified an exact hiring timeline. This move builds on Sanofi’s 2024 commitment to invest €400 million (approximately $474.6 million) in its India GCC operations by the end of the decade.

The investment signals a shift toward scaling high-value functions in India, positioning the Hyderabad centre as a critical part of Sanofi’s global ecosystem.

Focus on Innovation and Advanced Capabilities

The additional roles will span across several strategic domains, including:

  • Research & Development (R&D)
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Data Innovation and Analytics
  • Medical Affairs
  • Commercial Capabilities
  • Corporate Functions

This indicates that Sanofi’s Hyderabad centre is evolving beyond traditional support services into a global innovation hub that contributes directly to enterprise-wide strategy and transformation.

India’s Growing GCC Ecosystem

Sanofi’s expansion comes at a time when India’s Global Capability Centre ecosystem is witnessing rapid growth. According to Anarock:

  • India hosts more than 1,700 GCCs
  • These centres employ over 1.9 million professionals
  • The GCC market could grow to $105–110 billion by 2030
  • The number of centres may exceed 2,400 by the end of the decade

What were once considered cost-efficient back-office operations have now transformed into innovation-led centres driving digital transformation, R&D, finance, and global operations.

Hyderabad: A Strategic Pharma Hub

Hyderabad has increasingly become a focal point for global life sciences and technology companies. The announcement precedes the city’s flagship biotechnology conference, BioAsia, where global pharmaceutical leaders such as Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, Merck, and Sanofi are expected to discuss research expansion and India’s pharmaceutical growth trajectory.

The timing further underscores Hyderabad’s growing importance in global healthcare innovation.

A Strategic Shift in Global Operations

For Sanofi, the Hyderabad GCC is emerging as a cornerstone of its global strategy. As pharmaceutical companies rebalance supply chains and invest heavily in digital capabilities, India’s skilled workforce and strong ecosystem make it a preferred destination for long-term investment.

This expansion not only strengthens Sanofi’s operational capabilities but also reinforces India’s position as a global hub for advanced research, AI, and pharmaceutical innovation.

Young Innovator, Big Impact: 14-Year-Old Develops AI App to Detect Heart Disease in Seconds

While celebrity controversies dominate headlines and social media trends, a quiet revolution in healthcare is being led by a 14-year-old innovator—far from the spotlight.

Siddharth Nandyala, born in Hyderabad and raised in the United States, has developed Circadian AI, a mobile application that can detect early signs of heart disease in just 7 seconds by analyzing heart sounds using advanced Artificial Intelligence.

This is not a classroom prototype or a science fair concept. Circadian AI has been tested on real patients. Over seven months, Siddharth dedicated himself to learning AI, coding the application, conducting medical research, and visiting hospitals across Andhra Pradesh, where the app’s results were compared with ECG and echocardiogram reports. The findings reportedly showed strong alignment—an extraordinary achievement for someone still in school.

Inspired by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Siddharth’s work has earned recognition from national and international leaders. Yet, despite its life-saving potential, the innovation has received limited attention from mainstream media.

At a time when medical accessibility and early diagnosis can save countless lives, Circadian AI represents how young minds can meaningfully contribute to global health challenges.

Siddharth Nandyala’s journey is a reminder that true heroes are not defined by fame or noise—but by impact.

It may be time we rethink who we celebrate and why.
