9,000 NVIDIA Chips: Indian AI Company Powers Up Hyderabad’s Largest AI Factory

India is rapidly positioning itself as a major global hub for artificial intelligence infrastructure, and a groundbreaking new development in Hyderabad is set to accelerate this vision. AM Intelligence, an Indian AI infrastructure company backed by the founders of renewable energy giant Greenko Group, has reportedly placed a binding order for approximately 9,000 Nvidia Vera Rubin GPUs.

This monumental investment marks one of the earliest and largest deployments of Nvidia’s latest AI computing platform in Asia, signaling a massive leap forward for India’s compute-as-a-service capabilities.

The Scale of the Investment

The Hyderabad facility is not just another data center; it is designed to be a true “AI factory” capable of handling some of the most demanding computational workloads in the world, including trillion-parameter foundation models and next-generation agentic AI applications.

Key highlights of the project include:

  • Massive Compute Power: An initial deployment of 200MW of AI compute capacity, serving as the first phase of a broader 1GW compute-as-a-service platform.
  • Historic Investment: The broader project represents a staggering $8 billion+ in capital expenditure, underscoring the sheer scale of ambition.
  • Cutting-Edge Hardware: The order for ~9,000 Nvidia Vera Rubin systems ensures the facility will be equipped with the most advanced AI training and inference hardware available globally.

The Green Energy Advantage: A Strategic Moat

One of the most significant bottlenecks in the global AI race is energy consumption. AI factories are notoriously power-hungry, and securing affordable, sustainable energy is critical for profitability.

AM Intelligence holds a distinct competitive advantage here: direct access to Greenko Group’s vast renewable energy infrastructure. By powering its AI data centers with clean, reliable energy, the company aims to offer some of the lowest-cost AI computation services globally.

As Mahesh Kolli, Founder and President of Greenko, noted:

“In global token economics, energy prices play a huge part.”

This synergy between renewable energy and advanced computing not only drives down operational costs but also aligns with global sustainability goals, making the Hyderabad facility a model for green AI infrastructure.

Global Reach with Low Latency

While rooted in India, AM Intelligence’s vision is thoroughly global. The company plans to offer its computing capacity to enterprise customers across India, the United States, Finland, and Malaysia.

Thanks to India’s robust and expanding undersea cable connectivity, US-based companies will be able to access AI compute resources hosted in India with a latency of approximately 300 milliseconds. This makes cross-border, real-time AI inference and training highly viable, positioning India as a reliable, high-performance alternative to traditional Western data center hubs.

Ambitious Expansion Plans

The Hyderabad AI factory is just the beginning. AM Intelligence has outlined an aggressive roadmap to expand its total AI data-center capacity to 5GW by 2030 across India, Europe, and other strategic global markets. This expansion is expected to be funded through a strategic mix of debt and equity, leveraging the strong financial backing and industry expertise of the Greenko founding team.

Looking Ahead: India’s AI Infrastructure Moment

While companies like Sarvam AI are making waves in foundational AI models, AM Intelligence is tackling the equally critical challenge of the underlying infrastructure. By combining world-class Nvidia hardware, ultra-low-cost renewable energy, and strategic global connectivity, AM Intelligence is building the backbone of the next generation of AI.

This $8 billion bet in Hyderabad is more than just a corporate expansion; it is a definitive statement that India is ready to power the global AI revolution.
