Hyderabad Metro Saves Lives: Donor Heart & Lungs Transported 14 KM in Just 25 Minutes

In a remarkable example of speed, coordination, and public service, Hyderabad Metro Rail played a vital role in a life-saving organ transplant mission by transporting a donor heart and lungs across the city in record time.

The organs were moved from CARE Hospitals, Gachibowli to KIMS Hospitals, Minister Road, Secunderabad, using the Hyderabad Metro network. The journey covered 14 kilometres across 13 Metro stations, from Raidurg Metro Station to Rasoolpura Metro Station, and was completed in just 25 minutes, between 11:40 AM and 12:05 PM.

Hyderabad Metro officials coordinated closely with doctors and hospital staff to ensure the organs were transported safely and without delay. Their meticulous planning and swift execution helped deliver the donor heart and lungs within the critical time window required for a successful transplant.

Organ Donation by Brain-Dead Youth Gives New Life to 8 People

Uday Kiran (22), a resident of Kothlapur village in Sangareddy district, became an inspiration to society by giving new life to eight people after his death. Following a road accident that left him brain-dead, his family members came forward to donate his organs, showing remarkable humanity.

Uday Kiran had completed his B.Tech and was taking coaching classes in preparation for a job. On April 4, while boarding a bus at Nizampet bus stand in Hyderabad, he suddenly fell down and suffered severe head injuries. He was immediately shifted to a hospital and provided treatment. However, on April 11, doctors declared him brain-dead.

Even in this moment of grief, his family made the noble decision to donate his organs. Uday Kiran’s organs helped save the lives of eight people and brought hope to many others.

Though his death left the family in deep sorrow, his organs brought light into the lives of others. His last rites were performed in Kothlapur village, where villagers, relatives, and friends gathered in large numbers to pay their final respects.

Hyderabad Realtor’s Organs Donated Through Jeevandan, Saves Lives

A noble gesture from a grieving family has helped save lives in Hyderabad.

The family of 53-year-old realtor Guntakandla Karunakar Reddy from Rangareddy district donated his organs after he was declared brain dead at a private hospital in Hyderabad.

Karunakar Reddy, a resident of Chintalakunta, collapsed at his home on the morning of March 3 and was rushed to a hospital in the city. Despite receiving emergency treatment, his condition did not improve, and doctors declared him brain dead on Thursday.

In a courageous decision during a time of grief, his wife Swapna consented to donate his organs under the State-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative. Surgeons successfully retrieved his lungs and liver, which were allocated to patients in urgent need.

This selfless act highlights the life-saving impact of organ donation and the importance of initiatives like Jeevandan in giving hope to those awaiting transplants. 🙏
