This morning I was at the flag-off of the Yuva Bharat Run 2026 — a mass fitness run aimed at getting citizens, particularly young people, to take health seriously. Not as a resolution, not as a trend, but as a habit.

Who Was There
The flag-off brought together former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, IT & Electronics Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, and organizer Kishan Reddy Gangapuram. It’s not every day you see that kind of gathering at a community run — and the turnout from participants matched the energy on stage.

What Kishan Reddy Said
His message was straightforward: a country can’t develop on paper alone. The people have to be well. Kishan Reddy made the point that physical fitness isn’t just personal ambition — it feeds directly into what a working, productive, progressing nation looks like. If the Viksit Bharat vision means anything at the ground level, it starts with people who are healthy enough to show up and do the work.
He also brought up Swami Vivekananda — not as a ceremonial reference, but as someone whose ideas about strength, discipline, and character still hold up. The run was framed partly around that spirit: build your body, build your mind, contribute something beyond yourself.

Why This Kind of Event Still Matters
Mass fitness runs get dismissed sometimes as feel-good optics. Maybe. But there’s something real about getting thousands of people outside and moving on the same morning, for the same reason. It normalizes the conversation around health in communities where gyms are expensive and sedentary routines are the default.
The Yuva Bharat Run 2026 won’t fix public health on its own. But as a nudge — especially for young people who haven’t yet built the habit — it’s worth more than another awareness poster.

Telangana benefits in Union Budget

The Union government will take a decision on releasing funds for Phase II of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project only after the Telangana government concludes its discussions with L&T on the proposed Phase I merger through the designated committee and arrives at a final decision, Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy said on Sunday.


Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy said the Telangana government must first clarify its position on Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase I, complete all formalities related to its proposed takeover, and submit a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) before any financial assistance can be considered.

Mr. Kishan Reddy further stated that the Union Housing and Urban Development Ministry has earmarked ₹28,740 crore for MRTS and Metro Rail projects, assuring that sufficient funds are available to meet the Centre’s share for Hyderabad Metro Phase II once the required conditions are fulfilled.

Benefits to Telangana

Highlighting the benefits extended to Telangana in the Union Budget, the Secunderabad MP said the State’s share in Central taxes has been increased by 13.5%, rising to ₹33,180 crore for 2026–27 from ₹29,280 crore in the previous year.

He described the proposed high-speed rail corridors from Hyderabad to Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai as a “matter of pride” for Telangana. Additionally, he noted that fertiliser subsidies have been enhanced by nearly ₹7,000 crore.

Mr. Kishan Reddy also pointed out that the TEX-ECO programme would support the development of the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal, while a girls’ hostel would be established in every district to benefit students pursuing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Medicine) courses.

Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy welcomed the Centre’s proposal on municipal bonds, under which cities issuing bonds worth over ₹1,000 crore will receive an incentive of ₹100 crore. He added that nearly 32 towns in Telangana will continue to benefit from the existing ₹200-crore incentive under the AMRUT scheme.

Mr. Kishan Reddy also said that around 38 lakh micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Telangana are expected to benefit from the ₹10,000-crore growth fund announced in the Union Budget. Describing it as a Budget designed for future generations, he said it was focused on long-term development rather than electoral considerations.

Earlier, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao termed the announcement of high-speed rail corridors from Hyderabad a moment of pride, noting that it further reinforces the State’s position as a national growth engine.

Speaking at the BJP State office after watching the Budget presentation, Mr. Rao described it as a “transformative Budget” that lays the groundwork for a golden era—taking the nation from economic strength to national capability and from uplifting the poorest to achieving inclusive growth.

He said the Budget provides a strong foundation for employment generation, improved agricultural productivity, enhanced purchasing power, and the expansion of quality education and healthcare services. Mr. Rao expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting a people-centric Budget that addresses the needs of all sections of society.

Telangana BJP Chief Kishan Reddy Urges CM Revanth Reddy to Halt Kancha Gachibowli Land Auction

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP chief and Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy has urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to immediately withdraw the auction process for 400 acres of government land in Kancha Gachibowli village, Serilingampally mandal.

The Telangana government, through the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TIIC), plans to auction these land parcels as part of its resource mobilization strategy. However, Kishan Reddy has strongly opposed this move, citing serious environmental concerns.

Call for National Park Declaration

In his letter to the Chief Minister, Kishan Reddy demanded that both the 400 acres earmarked for auction and the adjacent 800 acres be considered for declaration as a national park under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. This, he argued, would help preserve the area’s rich ecological diversity and prevent further urbanization.

Ecological and Wildlife Concerns

The minister highlighted the severe threat posed to Indian star tortoises, a species protected under Schedule IV of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. He also pointed out that the area is a biodiversity hotspot, home to 734 plant species and 220 bird species, including peacocks, migratory birds, spotted deer, four-horned antelopes, wild boars, pythons, and Indian star tortoises.

Moreover, the region features unique geological formations such as the Mushroom Rock, which has been studied and documented by experts.

Environmental Impact of Urbanization

Kishan Reddy strongly criticized the government’s plan, stating that transforming ecologically sensitive land into urban developments under the guise of resource mobilization is unacceptable. He warned that such actions could:

  • Deplete groundwater resources
  • Destroy natural habitats
  • Threaten local wildlife
  • Severely impact the city’s environment

He emphasized that although the 400-acre plot does not officially fall under the forest department’s jurisdiction, it is surrounded by dense greenery and serves as a crucial oxygen source for Hyderabad. Converting it into a concrete jungle, he warned, would result in irreparable environmental damage.

The demand to halt the auction has garnered support from local residents, environmental activists, and students of the University of Hyderabad, who have expressed concerns over the potential ecological disaster.
