Hyderabad Hospital Completes 400 Kidney Transplants, Marks Major Medical Milestone

Hyderabad: Yashoda Hospitals in Hyderabad has achieved a significant milestone by completing more than 400 kidney transplant surgeries since the launch of its kidney transplant programme. The achievement was highlighted during the Kidney Symposium 2026, held at the hospital’s HITEC City facility on August 29.

The symposium brought together nephrologists, urologists, transplant specialists and other healthcare professionals to discuss recent developments in kidney transplantation, post-transplant care and long-term graft health. The event also focused on the need to strengthen awareness about organ donation.

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated the symposium, while NITI Aayog Member R. Balasubrahmanyam attended as the guest of honour. The hospital’s kidney transplant programme has handled complex cases, including ABO-incompatible kidney transplants and procedures involving elderly patients and donors, reflecting the growing capabilities of transplant medicine in Hyderabad. Hospital Managing Director G. Surender Rao attributed the programme’s progress to advanced medical technology and the expertise of its specialist teams.

During the event, experts also underlined the importance of improving public understanding of organ donation and addressing misconceptions surrounding transplantation. Greater awareness among potential donors and families can play an important role in expanding access to life-saving organ transplants.

The completion of more than 400 kidney transplants adds to Hyderabad’s growing reputation as a major healthcare destination, particularly in complex procedures and advanced transplant care.
