Hyderabad Weather Update: Telangana Sizzles at 44°C, Rain & Storm Relief Likely From April 20

Telangana continues to reel under severe heatwave conditions, with temperatures soaring between 41°C and 44°C across several districts. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, dry and extremely hot weather is expected to persist until April 20.

Residents across the state are advised to take precautions as daytime conditions remain harsh, with no immediate respite from the intense summer heat.

Rain, Thunderstorms Expected After April 20

The IMD has forecast a significant weather shift beginning April 20, with light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers likely in isolated parts of Telangana. This change may bring temporary relief from the prolonged heatwave.

However, authorities have also warned that the rain may be accompanied by:

  • Thunderstorms
  • Lightning
  • Gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph

Districts Under Thunderstorm Alert

The following districts have been placed on alert for sudden weather activity:

Adilabad, Komuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Khammam, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy.

Advisory for Residents

People in affected districts are urged to remain cautious during the transition period, especially during evening hours when thunderstorms are more likely. Avoid open areas during lightning activity and secure loose outdoor items due to strong winds.

Outlook

Telangana remains under intense summer stress for now, but pre-monsoon activity from April 20 onward could gradually ease temperatures and improve conditions across the state.

🌧️ Rain, Thunderstorm Alert Issued for Telangana for Next 2–3 Days

Hyderabad | February 25, 2026

The weather department has issued a rain and thunderstorm alert for parts of Telangana for the next two to three days, forecasting light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and humid conditions across select regions of the state.

According to the latest forecast, eastern districts such as Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam are likely to witness rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. The rainfall may help improve soil moisture, but officials have advised farmers—especially those in the harvesting stage—to remain cautious as untimely rain could affect crop quality.

Authorities have urged residents to take safety precautions during thunderstorms, warning against staying in open areas or standing under trees due to the risk of lightning strikes.

In other parts of Telangana, weather conditions are expected to remain relatively stable, with partly cloudy skies and slightly higher humidity levels during morning hours. Wind speeds may increase marginally in some regions, leading to occasional gusty conditions.

In Hyderabad, the forecast indicates partly cloudy skies with a low probability of rainfall, though isolated drizzles cannot be ruled out. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 31°C, while the minimum may settle near 21°C, both within normal seasonal ranges.

Health advisories have also been issued, as fluctuating temperatures and cooler morning and evening winds could increase the risk of seasonal illnesses, particularly among children and the elderly.

Residents are advised to stay updated with local weather alerts and follow safety guidelines during adverse weather conditions.
