Pink Power Run 3.0 Announced in Hyderabad to Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

The Sudha Reddy Foundation and the MEIL Foundation have jointly announced the third edition of Pink Power Run, an international half-marathon and community fitness initiative aimed at raising critical awareness about breast cancer. Scheduled for September 27, 2026, in Hyderabad, this highly anticipated event is expected to draw more than 20,000 participants from across the globe.

Event Details and Categories

The Pink Power Run 3.0 will feature a professionally certified 21.097-km half-marathon recognized by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). To accommodate runners of all fitness levels, the event will also offer:

  • 10-km run
  • 5-km run
  • 3-km fun run

With a substantial total prize pool of Rs 75 lakh and awards for over 100 winners, the upgraded format is designed to attract leading distance runners and international athletes, elevating the event to a world-class sporting spectacle.

More Than Just a Race: A Movement for Health

At the announcement press conference, Sudha Reddy, Founder of the Sudha Reddy Foundation and Director of MEIL, emphasized that the Pink Power Run transcends traditional sporting events.

“The Pink Power Run was intended to go beyond being a sporting event and serve as a reminder of the importance of fitness, preventive healthcare, and early action,” said Sudha Reddy.

Emphasizing the timeless adage that “Health is Wealth,” she noted that a healthy community forms the foundation for creating a stronger, more vibrant economy. The initiative aims to promote overall health while driving critical awareness around breast cancer prevention and early detection.

The Urgent Need: Telangana’s Breast Cancer Crisis

The event’s timing and mission are particularly critical given the current healthcare landscape. Dr. Pragnya Chigurupati, a breast oncosurgeon with 10 years of experience, highlighted alarming statistics at the press conference.

“Telangana currently records the highest incidence of breast cancer cases in the country,” Dr. Chigurupati revealed, stressing the urgent need to expand awareness efforts, particularly across rural and semi-urban areas where access to early detection resources remains limited.

She emphasized that proactive prevention through regular health check-ups is the most vital tool in saving lives, underlining the broader health factors associated with breast cancer.

Miss World 2025 Lends Support

Adding international prestige to the event, Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata Chuangsri graced the announcement ceremony. She called breast cancer awareness a “deeply important cause” that requires strong, driving initiatives like the Pink Power Run to build a healthier community.

“Participating in and supporting the marathon plays a vital role in instilling a lasting sense of health awareness among both the runners and the broader public,” Opal Suchata Chuangsri stated.

Innovative Social Impact: Miles for Mammograms

One of the most inspiring aspects of Pink Power Run 3.0 is its innovative “Miles for Mammograms” initiative, launched in partnership with AIG Hospitals.

Under this groundbreaking program:

  • The cumulative distance covered by all participants will be converted into medical diagnostic support for underprivileged patients.
  • For every 100 km collectively completed, the Sudha Reddy Foundation will sponsor:
    • One free breast cancer screening
    • One free mammogram test

This unique initiative ensures that every step taken by runners directly translates into life-saving healthcare access for those who need it most.

Strategic Impact: Building a Healthier India

The Pink Power Run 3.0 represents a powerful convergence of:

  1. Sports and Fitness: Encouraging physical activity and healthy lifestyles
  2. Healthcare Awareness: Educating the public about breast cancer prevention and early detection
  3. Social Responsibility: Providing free diagnostic services to underprivileged communities
  4. Community Building: Bringing together thousands of individuals for a common cause

Looking Ahead

As Hyderabad prepares to host this momentous event on September 27, the Pink Power Run 3.0 stands as a testament to the power of collective action in addressing critical health challenges. By combining athletic excellence with social impact, the initiative is setting a new benchmark for how sporting events can drive meaningful change.

Whether you’re a professional runner, a fitness enthusiast, or simply someone who believes in the cause, Pink Power Run 3.0 offers an opportunity to be part of something bigger—a movement toward a healthier, more aware, and empowered India.

Thalassemia Awareness Run at T-Hub: A Step Toward a Thalassemia-Free India

On May 13, 2025, the T-Hub was abuzz with energy and purpose as more than 400 enthusiastic youngsters, along with several Thalassemia-affected children, came together for a noble cause – to raise awareness about Thalassemia and its prevention. The event, the “Backathon 2025,” aimed to educate and encourage people to take proactive steps in the fight against this genetic blood disorder.

The run was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, who served as the Chief Guest. His participation underscored the importance of community involvement and support in efforts to combat Thalassemia. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mr. Ranjan for his unwavering commitment to such meaningful causes.

A special mention goes to two incredible individuals who, despite personal challenges, made time to be part of the event. First, our sincere gratitude to @⁨+91 93471 66528⁩ for showing up and standing strong with us despite being unwell. Your presence was a testament to your dedication. Additionally, @⁨+91 98480 93106⁩ sir, who traveled just to be a part of this event for a few minutes despite a hectic schedule, your warm wishes and support meant a lot to us.

This event could not have been possible without the quiet yet powerful support of a dedicated group of people who have been part of this journey since 2016, both directly and indirectly, and through the Blood Warriors initiative since 2020. Your individual commitment has been the driving force behind every step we’ve taken, and continues to inspire our collective efforts.

We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to Gayathri Ma’am, Aditi Ma’am, Tapadia Sir, and Dhiraj, who have been the backbone of our mission. The continued support from Rotary and all of our partners has truly been invaluable. You all have been co-passengers in this journey, and we cannot thank you enough for your unwavering support.

The event not only served as a platform to raise awareness but also provided an opportunity for early detection of Thalassemia. Over 140 samples were collected for free Thalassemia testing, furthering our goal of making sure that more individuals are aware of their health status. This gesture of free testing, paired with the awareness run, highlights the importance of both prevention and detection in the fight against Thalassemia.

As the event concluded, the energy and determination displayed by everyone present were palpable. It was evident that every step taken during the run, every voice raised in support, and every drop of effort shared was a powerful reminder that together, we can make a difference.

Congratulations to everyone involved in organizing this event for making it a huge success. It was well-attended and well-organized, a testament to the dedication of the team behind it. Moving forward, I propose that we organize this event again in three months, to keep the momentum going and continue building awareness. Let’s make “Backathon” a recurring event – a brand that symbolizes our commitment to creating a Thalassemia-free India.

Thank you once again to everyone who participated and supported the Backathon 2025. Your presence and involvement have taken us one step closer to our shared dream of a Thalassemia-free future. Let’s continue to work towards prevention, one step, one drop, and one life at a time.

With deep gratitude,
Blood Warriors
